Ctrl+Alt+Del Event Details

It’s the moment we have all been waiting for…for the past week and a half. Cysero worked his magic with the creator of the webcomic Ctrl + Alt + Del and we will be hosting the in-game event this Friday!

The last week of January is a very special time of year for CAD fans... it's Winter-een-mas, a holiday just for gamers! But this Winter-een-mas… something is not quite right (other than the whole holiday not bring quite right). The Winter-een-mas Crown has been stolen and Ethan, Lucas, Lilah, and Zeke need your help getting it back!
There will be Winter-een-mas rare items pulled directly from the pages (web pages) of Ctrl + Alt + Del plus some stuff you've never seen before… like the 16-bit Item Sets in the AC Event Rare Shop!

Digital DOOMknight Armor and Helm, Blade of 16-Bit Awe, and the Light of Digital Destiny!

All these 16-bit digital items (and more!) will be in the AC event rare shop along with a 16 bit pet. Nearly all of the DROPS from the event will be non-member. BUT! After this week, the event goes Member Only so only members will have access to those drops. And when the event goes Member, the AC shop is GONE. If you happen to follow me, Dage the Evil, or Cysero on Twitter, then you probably caught a sneak-peek at the newest Class making its way to our Inventory Bags.

CardCaster Class preview!

This completely color custom Class—based off Base, Accessory, Trim, and Eye Color—is still in the making and has no scheduled release date yet. But this Class is special. Very special. The only way to get this Class is by getting your hands on the not-yet-released BattleOn Game Cards set!
Artix, Mido, Cy, Dumoose, and the entire Team have been hard at work on a physical card game that will hit store shelves in the next few months (if everything works out like we hope it will).The card game is SUPER INCREDIBLY fun and I cannot wait until it is actually finished!
I’m sure Artix will give you some more spoilers as the card game nears its final stage. But for now… that’s all I can say. If I haven’t already said too much. Yipes!
And, um, as for the Inventory/Bank Space improvements…. Zhoom? …Minimal? Where are you guys?!

Executar uma empresa de jogos com Artix hoje Um monte de jogadores de perguntar o que eu faço aqui Battleon Jogos. Eles dizem que eu "correr todos os jogos", mas o que isso realmente significa? Zhoom, o tracker mestre e ranger, vai ser seu guia para a zona. Ele é o que chamamos de NPC ZONE. Ele irá guiá-lo ao redor da zona, da mesma forma que faz em Rayst Arcangrove e Dorian Mode faz em Mythsong.

Assim que chegarmos a área vai, basta falar com Zhoom se você está perdido e ele vai deixá-lo onde você precisa ir em seguida para continuar a todas as aventuras da nova história Sandsea. Ele também será o fornecedor do item para o Reputação Sandsea você vai ganhar fazendo buscas pela cidade, e através da história.

Arm they pink-protective eyewear and get ready for a massive spoiler regarding Lore’s newest zone, Player Suggestion Shop update, brand-new NPCs, and the fabled discovery of Bupers Camel.

Yesterday was the first Monday of the first week of the first month of the new year. Artix, Cysero, Safiria, Zhoom, Minimal, and I journeyed into the War Room for a little brainstorming session about this week’s release… and that somehow evolved into a 4 and a half hour discussion regarding the amazing new future for AQWorlds! Omgomgomgomg =D
I can’t really tell you what we have in store for you… but keep in mind that it’s HUGE. We know how much you love AQWorlds – and you know how much we love making AQWorlds for you! We listened to your comments and concerns and have come up with many ways to improve your favorite MMO in 2011. Many, many, many, many, many, many, *deep breath* many, many, many, many, many ways!
But let’s not focus on that just yet. There’s still another 361 days left to discuss our new plans. We’ve got a massive NEW release arriving in just a couple of days that I’m sure you wanna get the low-down on. Bring on the spoilers!

The Sandsea

This week you will travel to Lore’s seemingly endless desert known as the Sandsea. DragonFable heroes should be familiar with this parched paradise full of palm trees, sand dunes, and desert monsters surrounding a prosperous oasis city.

Recently, a very unnatural sandstorm has blown across the Sandsea and revealed that the oasis community was just the center of a much larger town… once devoured by the sands and forgotten by the people. Here you will meet Zhoom the Ranger (and full-time programmer) along with many other oasis inhabitants.

A Bazaar of new NPCs, Shops, Items and Monsters

Much like the thriving cities of Arcangrove and Mythsong Canyon, the oasis town features many NPCs and Item Vendors. Zhoom is the main NPC and Reputation guy offering you all sorts of necessary Sandsea armors, weapons, and various gear. The town also has a Barber with new hairstyles, a House Item Vendor, a Pet Shop owner, and an Innkeeper who sells consumable food!

Oh yeah, you heard read correctly. Consumable food. Food and drinks you can actually EAT to give you all sorts of different buffs! These will act just like the equipable Scrolls and Potions… but comes in delicious food form! Mmmmmmmmmmm tasty!
There are also two new baddies making the scene. Since the oasis is just about the only source of fresh water and vegetation in the Sandsea, exploding Cactus Creepers and Bupers Camels have made their way to this desert sanctuary.

…Bupers Camel?

Ah yes, the legendary Bupers Camel. No one knows exactly what a Bupers Camel looks like… or even what it is for that matter… but it’s revealing itself this Friday for the first time ever.
Here’s how Bupers Camel came about, quoted from Cysero himself:
“I was showing Warlic the Google voice recognition app. You just say what you want to search for and it googles it for you. I played with it quite a bit and it did really well but Warlic held the phone to his head and said "Dissertations on Bruce Campbell" and what came back was "Dissertations Bupers Camel". I don't know what a Bupers Camel is but I think we're going to have to add it as a monster when we add The Sandsea to AQW.”
Currently, Bupers Camel is a mythical beast that has been used in newbie trickery. Veteran heroes convince new players that catching a Bupers Camel in Greenguard Forest will grant them Mod Status.

Psh, that doesn’t even look like a Mod. At all. Where’s the gold name?
Please note that a Bupers Camels does not look like that. Or wait...maybe it does? I don’t know, I’ve never seen one myself. Gatta love our creative players out there -- thanks Loki Bloodstone!

Player Suggestion Shop

Because releasing a whole new zone with all the amenities isn’t enough, we are even expanding the Player Suggestion Shop in Yulgar’s Inn. There are already 40+ masterpieces in this shop created by your fellow players… and we will be adding a whole lot more Friday!
You never know if your idea will be put in game… but there is only one way to find out! Head to the forums and submit your awesome weapon, armor, or helm, cape, or pet idea!

Due to some of our players evading certain rules in their gameplay, they were able to access certain shops.
To keep it fair for those of our players who actually PURCHASE the Calendar and the Novel... I've closed the shops for now.

Don't panic - Zhoom will be taking a good hard look at the coding when he gets home, and then will reset the shops later.

AdventureQuest Worlds (também conhecido pelo nome AQWorlds ou simplesmente AQW) é um MMORPG de navegador desenvolvida pela Artix Entertainment em 2008. Diferente da maioria dos MMORPGs, AdventureQuest Worlds foi desenvolvido inteiramente em Flash, permitindo rápido carregamente e jogabilidade, até mesmo em conexões consideradas lerdas. Atualmente existem mais de 3 milhões de contas registradas, com uma média de 250 mil novas contas por semana.
Jogabilidade
A jogabilidade de AdventureQuest Worlds é como a maioria dos MMORPGs, a maioria da jogabilidade se baseia em matar monstros e fazer buscas ("quests"). Como qualquer outro jogo multijogador, permite batalhar com os outros jogadores. Ao invés do estilo básico turno-à-turno (como os jogos anteriores da Artix Entertainment), ele usa tempo real para batalhar simultaneamente com os outros jogadores e monstros. Agora já a batalha Player VS Player("PvP"), Tambem a nova versão 1.0 veio os personagens Buscas ("Quests"), como em outros MMORPGs, são introduzidos pelos NPCs. Numa busca, o jogador precisa matar um ou vários monstros para conseguir os itens de buscas(prova de que seu personagem matou os monstros necessários), e o NPC irá trocar por experiência ("exp"), reputação ("rep"), dinheiro ("gold") e/ou itens como armas.
Equipamentos, incluindo armas, capacetes, capas, bichos de estimação ("pets") podem ser encontrados em lojas, como recompensa por uma busca, e ocasionalmente depois de matar certos monstros. Em vez de limitar os equipamentos por níveis ("levels"), ele vem em forma do seu "design". O jogador deve pagar para poder transformar ("enchance") em um item normal no nível que ele escolher em lojas especiais. Isso não significa que você não possa transformar de novo em outro nível. Quanto maior o nível, maior o preço para transformar e mais eficiência vai ter. O jogador precisa ser de um nível igual ou maior para poder usar um item.
AdventureQuest Worlds inclui várias classes que os jogadores podem ter, geralmente com compras ou missões. Existem 4 classes básicas e algumas avançadas, que requerem certos requisitos, como reputação (rep). As quatro classes básicas são mago (mage), ladino (rogue), guerreiro (warrior) e curandeiro (healer). Atualmente cada classe tem quatro habilidades (skills) que são destravadas conforme o jogador aumenta o nível de sua classe. Armaduras são completamente separadas das classes. Por exemplo, o jogador pode usar uma armadura chamada Blood Ninja e estar usando a classe de mago.
O inventário é usado para guardar seus itens e é limitado com 20 espaços cada, mas 55 espaços extras podem ser comprados com "Adventure Coins". Existe também um inventário secundário chamado de inventário de itens temporários (temp inventory), que é usado para itens de buscas e, toda vez que você sai do jogo, ele é esvaziado. Há também o "Bank", que é usado para guardar itens e tem um espaço limitado para itens normais e ilimitado para itens de "Adventure Coins".

Welcome to The Cloister, traveler. Under normal circumstances druids of all shapes and sizes would be here to greet you, but our beloved Mother Tree has been invaded by magical creatures that we have no ability to communicate with! Can you help save our home?

The Cloister is more than a giant tree. It was shaped and molded ages ago by very powerful druids. It has a special connection with Arcangrove as well as the powerful magic that floods this area.

Recently, we Druids have been taking our war forms and fighting to protect The Cloister from the invading monsters, but I told the others to flee for their safety. I just could not force myself to abandon the Mother Tree. With your help we might be able to save The Cloister and reopen the Arcangrove Tower's portal to the para-elemental plane of magic.

This is one of the four base classes, the others being Warrior, Mage, Healer.
According to the character panel rogues has 1.5 speed
Rogue does 75% base damage of any weapon
Skills are same, not in name but in effect, as Pirate, Barber, Renegade, Vampire, and Alpha Pirate. Leprechaun (has a faster reload time then leprechaun for vipers kiss, opportunity's strike, and footwork) is similar, but has different base stats, skills act slightly different, etc.
If you have completed the quest chain of the rogue trainer Metrea it can be upgraded to Renegade(Members Only) for 5,000 gold.
The suggested enhancements for this class are straight thief enhancements,as dexterity increases the things most important to it:hit chance,haste, and evasion. Of course, this is only a suggestion by AE. Fighter enhancements, as well as Lucky, are good choices as well.
This class is one of the best soloing classes in game, most likely the best non member one as well, although bypassed by Berserker Class, DoomKnight Class]], and Dragonlord Class.

Who Could Resist Its Call?

We have finally returned from our glorious Thanksgiving Holiday Break, which really wasn't much of a break. As some of you pointeds out on my Twitter, it's been a few days since we've done a Design Notes and some of you were downright HOWLING for a few DNs post but I don't have anything in-particular to tell you about so I guess I'll just humiliate myself for your enjoyment.
If you were playing Weds then you know that we suffered from a horrible bug that was making it unable to get ANYTHING from most of the Cornycopia shops. At one point we shut down the servers.
That server lock-out was my bad.
See, we have a little dashboard that lists a bunch of commands for the controlling the game. It has commands just about everything that you'd need to control AQW. It also has a button that SHUTS ALL THE SERVERS DOWN AT ONCE. In my haste to solve the shop bug I accidentally hit that button.

No sweat, just turn them back on, right? WRONG! Here lies the problem... if the servers are off then the dashboard can't control the servers. Zhoom or Minimal has to remote in and turn them back on and both of our codemeisters were gone.
Something is wrong with my head and instead of panicing when anyone SHOULD panic, I start laughing uncontrolably instead. So there I was, ROFLing my face off having just accidentally turned off AQ Worlds leaving literally thousands of your fellow players stranded outside the game and every single person who could turn on the servers was either flying to their home state for Thanksgiving or driving back to their house.
I did what any great leader in my position would have done: I started messing with people on Twitter and waiting for someone else to fix it. About 15 minutes later Zhoom arrived home and turned the game back on for me. Thanks Zhoom.
I stayed until I figured out what was wrong with all of the shops and finally went home.
Every release we need to shut the servers down to add the new content to the game. There's no way around that, but this was the first time that anyone has accidentally hit the OFF switch and hopefully it will be the last
Other than that, I had a great Thanksgiving and thanks to everyone who wished me Happy Thanksgiving via Twitter. I hope all of you had a good one too. Even those of you who live in Sweden where, I am told, there is no American Thanksgiving. Which makes sense.

Things To Come

Artix and I are hacking away at our Frostval event which will feature some musical and acting talent that LOTS AND LOTS of people have heard of. I don't want to jinks it and I legally can't say more than that bit if it works it will be HUGE for AQW! Even if that doesn't work out we have a lot of Frostval Fun planned, the return of our Cookie and Cake Contest from last year...

and the holiday appearance of Quibble planned as we bring this year of AQW to a close.

This week, we are continuing the Frozen Northlands quest chain as chaotically charged Nythera leads you through the frozen wastes of the north.
It's been a year since we began her storyline and now the calendar was come full circle. It's time for a little Dragony Goodness!

Calendar Update

You may have heard but the AE 2011 Year of The Moglin Calendars hit a little snag. They were coming from the printers over-seas when they got held up in the Customs office in Los Angeles. Finally they have begun to move toward us again and are scheduled to arrive at the lab tomorrow sometime.
That means that the FIRST 1000 Calendars should start getting shipped out by the end of the week. Sorry for the hold up, guys, but it was WAY beyond our control.

A Truck-Load of Pun

Incoming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ooooh! The truck transporting the 1st shipment of Battle On 2011 Calendars just arrived! As the driver, "Buddy", lowered the pallete off the back of the big rig's trailer a swarm of service robots poured out of the Secret Underground Lab's loading dock carrying the boxes to the unpacking plant. Do not worry, they were armed with twin G4-R anti-sneevil lasers*. Florida has a notoriously large sneevil infestation problem. You really need to watch your boxes closely. Faith carefully inspected each box then nodded her head for us to proceed. Within minutes we ripped through the cardboard containers like a pack of highly caffinated velociraptors. Freed from their boxy prison, the shiny Calendars immediately got the codes that unlock the Chronomancer class (and other in-game collector's items) placed within them. As you read this... we are packing your pre-orders and preparing to mail them out! There are a lot of them. It is really intimidating. Probably going to take until Friday for physically pack and ship them all. The only thing scarier than seeing that mountain of boxes** on the truck and knowing they were all already sold.... is knowing that a second bigger batch is on its way and most of them are already sold too O_O So for those of you who have been waiting on the first batch -- heads up, your calendar is on its way soon!
* Hind-sight being 20/20 we should have went with the Bazooka upgrade. You can never be too careful.

House Call

Last week I was very ill and stuck in bed staring at the spackle on the ceiling***. This gave me some time to think. We are long overdue for an upgrade to our houses. You need the ability to lock your house, let friends-only in, kick players from your house, and to get objects for your house that let you do creative, crazy and terrible things to other players. Examples: A group teleporter so you can launch quests from your house; a mirror ball that makes everyone dance at the house owner's command; and trap doors that send players to alternate dimensions.... maybe with some cool monsters in there. Maybe have the option to make your house into a PvP zone? We are also long overdue to add CASTLES as obtainable homes in the game. On a semi-related subject I would like to add the ability to access shops, your bank, and other features to house objects and pets. Actualy, I would like the ability to add multiplayer minigames to these objects so you can play things like paper-rock-scissors or trivia while hanging out with your friends. Do you have any ideas for cool items? Let us know on the forums! Also, tomorrow -- Beleen is going to start this year's cookie contest!

Sneak Peek at Friday’s Release!

A few days ago, Cysero posted a little teaser at what was coming in this week’s release. And I say “little,” I really mean it—he wrote like three sentences.
Pffffft, what kind of a spoiler is THAT?
Now that my Finals are over (yaaay!), I can dedicate my time to filling you all in on what’s going to happen tomorrow night. If you want it to be a surprise, I suggest hitting the Back button as fast as you can as to not catch a glimpse of tomorrow’s totally cool release.
And yes, ‘cool’ is a pun—you caught me!

Nythera and the Frozen Northlands

If you are up to speed on the Frozen Northlands chain, then you will recall helping Nythera take down that cold-hearted Ice Queen Aisha. Here’s a quick little summary to refresh your memory:

Rooooaaar! Nythera uses Chaos Gemerald to transform into crazy dragon!

But then… oh no!

Don’t do it Nythera! It’s Chaos! It’s not worth it!

And theeeeeen……

Overly dramatic DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUN!

If you haven’t already witnessed this for yourself in game, and if you haven’t already played through Old King Coal’s quests (which come directly after defeating Queen Aisha), you will NEED TO do so in order to play through tomorrow’s release. That poor King has been sick for awhile now…
Anyway! Tomorrow (and right now, since this IS a spoiler) you will discover that Nythera has vanished! Adak Amaroq, the Guwio Village Messenger, has traced her footprints and found them leading into the uncharted Northlands Forest.
So much snow falls here that no one has ever been able to find a straight path through. And we mean NO ONE. Not even the Mods know the “correct” path, because there is NO correct path.

It’s just like getting lost somewhere in real life. No matter which direction you choose, you never seem to end up where you just were. I ended up upside down once. Don’t know how that happened….
So bundle up in something warm, because in order to “find your way out,” you will have to get lost!

Since Nythera has meddled with Chaos, you will have to collect Chaos Crystals in order to forge some sort of Chaos Positioning Spell… like a GPS, only more magical (and one that doesn’t tell you a million times to make a U-turn if you miss the path you were supposed to turn down). There are 10 Crystals hidden throughout this snowy terrain that you will have to find and collect, and then take them to George Forge-man in Guwio Village so he can do his thing with them.
Only when you have the Chaos Positioning Spell (the C.P.S.) will you be able to find out where Nythera is hiding!

Well what happens when we find Nythera?!

AH HA! That, my friend, is a surprise! I can’t give you all the juicy details because… well… when you do play through tomorrows release, and get to the end, you are going to be sooooo incredibly surprised and excited that whatever is within the vicinity of your computer may be knocked over from your flailing cheering arms.
But here’s a little hint to leave you off on: DragonFable players are going to scream with anticipation!

Everyone's Favorite half-Dragon is BACK!

Just about a year ago we introduced Nythera to AQW in her first storyline in the Frozen Northlands! Finally, we return to the frozen north and continue where we left off!
Spoiler: We are ALSO building up her legend before the REAL Nythera gets married next year and we tie her wedding into AQW with a special in-game wedding event.
Man, people around here are getting married like... ducks?
Cause they mate for life, ya see.
.....and we're carrying on.

If you haven't been to the Frozen Northlandss, just look for the snow-covered area on the top of the map and begin your quest! This is the first of a two part quest continuation which picks up where we left off!

This contest will range from NOW until 11:59pm EST on Sunday, December 19th. The winner(s) will be announced on the Design Notes Thursday, December 23rd!
The rules and guidelines are short ‘n sweet but MUST be followed accordingly for your edible entry to be eligible. I repeat, in boldface and in red font, ‘cuz a lot of people miss this: YOU must follow EACH rule if you want your entry to be considered eligible.

HeroSmash Alpha Test Begins Tomorrow!

BattleOn Games' newest MMO, HeroSmash opens its doors to character creation and Alpha Testers tomrrow.
If you missed out on Alpha testing AQW, you DO NOT want to miss out on Alpha testing our newest game!

There are some pretty reasonable limitations to character creation and Alpha Testing as Artix mentioned is his earlier post.

You will need a BattleOn Master Acccount to create your character and/or Alpha Test. Without a Master Account you won't be able to do anything.

You will be able to create your character AND claim your name if you have ever spent a SINGLE DOLLAR on ANY BattleOn game account that you have tied to your Master Account. If you don't have that account tied to your Master Account then you will not be able to create your character.

If, and only if, you have a current, active AQW MEMBERSHIP tied to your Master Account then you will be able to enter HeroSmash and help us Alpha Test.

Please keep in mind that this is just a bare bones version of HeroSmash. We have a long way to go before we event get to Beta Testing and we NEED your feedback to lead us unto Beta phase and make the game great, but keep your expectations reasonable, and above all else have fun.

As Artix mentioned, we will only be Alpha Testing on ONE server which means that only about 1500 people at a time will be able to play. If the server is full, KEEP TRYING! You may be the next to enter the game as soon as someone logs out or lags out.

We have some great and horrible stories from AQW's Alpha Phase. We expect huge disasters in the HS Alpha. HS isn't scheuled for full release until NEXT SUMMER so Alpha Testers will not only be the first ti test HeroSmash, they will be the ONLY people to test it for a long while.

I'm sure there will eventually be treats in HeroSmash for those who help test, but who knows what they will be. Maybe you can tell US what to give to Alpha Testers as soon as we get our HeroSmash Forums up and running!

If you have ever upgraded in any BattleOn Games (AdventuerQuest, DragonFable, MechQuest, EpicDuel or AQW) OR ever purchased Z-tokens, Dragon Coins, Nova Gems, Varium or AdventureCoins... and you have that account tied to your BattleOn Games Master Account... then you will be able to create a character and claim your HeroSmash name today!

If you are a CURRENT MEMBER of AQWorlds... and have that account tied to your BattleOn Games Master Account... then you will be able to log in and play as soon as HeroSmash goes live.

Either Way you will need your Master Account to log into the game (just like EpicDuel). Keep your eyes on http://www.herosmash.com/. That is where you will log in.

Artix has said that the server will open to character creation around sundown here in Florida.

Last year, TLAPD was a huge hit both in game and here at the Lab. Arrrrrrrtix and I dressed up as pirates IRL as thousands of our friends equipped their costumes in game. I know I’m dressing up again. Maybe I’ll bring a pie with me. So I can be a pierate ^___^

The Natatorium is an ancient meeting place for various forms of merpeople, which has recently come under attack by Ledgermayne's forces.

You will meet Nisse, the Mermaid Sage, and help her take out vicious Angler Fish, Armored Merpeople, and a new wicked boss that everyone here at the Lab is dying to see! I don’t want to spoil that last part… not yet, at least… so you will just have to wait patiently like the rest of us! Until we see it for ourselves. And then maybe we’ll share =D

Have you heard anything about the Artix Entertainment 2011 Wall Calendar?! Um well now you have! We are actually making an actual calendar featuring the female NPCS from AE, beautifully set against backgrounds reflecting each month’s theme! Check it out.

Actually, TLAPD doesn’t start until Sunday September 19^th… but we didn’t want to wait that long to celebrate. Can you blame us? So right now, in Quibble’s Shop, ye can get 15 ALL NEW Talk Like a Pirate Day Items and a new Sunken Ship House! Now that’s a lot of booty… YAR HAR HARRR! No one knows if these items will EVER return, so make sure ye and ye crew of scallywags get them while you still can.

Arcangrove Expanded: The Natatorium

Dive to the bottom of the Arcangrove Loch and enter the realm of The Natatorium. Normally a place of peaceful meeting between various merfolk, The Nataorium is now overrun…or I guess over-swam?… with Angler Fish and Armored Merdraconians thanks to Chaos Lord Ledgermayne.
After asking Rayst in Arcangrove where you should go next, seek out Nisse the Mermaid Sage in The Natatorium. J6 did an AMAZING job—as usual—with crafting yet another beautiful map while Warlic whipped up some new aquatic tunes. But don’t be fooled by the map’s pretty frames! You are ganna need more brain than brawn if you hope unlock the gate to the Boss guarding the next piece of the Supreme Arcane Staff: the Runes of Riparian!
Your hard work will not go unrewarded. Along with offering you lochloads of gold, exp, and rep for every completed Quest, the monsters in The Natatorium are loaded with amazing swords and tridents. Swim its depths to discover:

Is it just me, or has this past week just flown by? Who gave Time a +15 Agility Buff? (and why haven’t I gotten a buff like that in real life? I need to have a word with the Time Travel Faeries… and the coffee maker…)
Since Friday is a day away, I should let you all know that Quibble is leaving tomorrow! Yes, the 15 Arcangrove-inspired items in his shop will vanish come sundown Friday along with those 16 awesome Talk Like A Pirate Day armors, captain hats, bandanas, and back items (+2 House Items!). So if you haven’t already plundered Quibble’s shop, now is your last chance!

Sure, you can wait another 361 days for the next TLAPD, but no one can say if those Rare items in Quibble’s shop will ever resurface. So your best bet is to do some last-minute AdventureCoin shopping in order to get your hands on the savviest loot in all the seven seas! And remember, you can store as many AC items you want in your bank for free and forever! Yaaaaar, it be true!

Arcangrove Part 4: The Ruins of Great Gilead

Finally you get a sneak-peek at what we have planned out for this week’s release! You are going to want to make sure that you have completed all the quests in Arcangrove, The Cloister, Mudluk Village, and The Natatorium so that you can journey to the magical city of the Great Gilead.
The Great Gilead was once thriving city of great magical achievement, but due to a terrible magical accident, it lies in ruins, deserted for more than a thousand years. It is now a place of study and quiet meditation for the spirit speaking Shamans. You must seek out Master Shaman Umbra in the Ruins if you hope to obtain the next piece of the Supreme Arcane Staff: the Wrap of Gilead.

Just a few Great Gilead weapons

You and your friends will embark on quests that will enlighten you on the Four Elementals of Lore: Earth, Water, Air, and Fire. Only when you have a deep understanding of these elements will you be able to confront the Guardian of the Gilead Wrap. Oh, and there will be an all-new puzzle that needs solving before you can take out the Great Gilead’s Boss!
I cannot wait for tomorrow! Which is going to come much sooner rather than later with that new agility buff applied to it. Someone give Time a speeding ticket, will ya? Thx!

new Non-Member Class is finally here!

Yup. It’s pretty early in the morning where I’m from. Or rather, pretty late from the night before. And the new release is still hours and hours away from being launched… so what am I still doing awake?
Check out the title up there. Shaman. As in the new Non-Member Shaman Class. As in the new Non-Member Shaman Class being released tonight!
A whole bunch of my friends on Twitter asked if I could write a Class Guide for the Shaman (I did a few before on Defender, Guardian, Bard, StarCaptain, um…) and I just couldn’t say no. Even though we are all so slammed with this week’s release and next week’s massive AQWorlds 10/10/10 Birthday Event, I wanted you all to get a sneak peak at Lore’s newest Class!

Okay so, that’s not *exactly* what the Shaman Class looks like. To be honest… the art for the Class isn’t finished yet. To be even more honest… I have no idea what the Class is ganna look like. But hey. You see those wings on his back—those ARE arriving tonight, and yea, that really do look that cool (…or hot, since they’re from a volcano…) Hehehe!

Alright, let’s get down to biz, Shamans… and Shawomans

Before swarming Rayst tonight when the servers come back up, you will need to have a Rank 10 Reputation with Arcangrove if you hope to take on the Shaman Class. So if you aren’t already there, I suggest taking the time now to make your way through the Arcangrove saga. (Don’t forget about the Dailys offered by Reens, Ewa, and that Paddylump fella if you need more Reputation)
Shamans are a Non-Member Arcangrove-inspired Class who share a deep connection with Lore's four main Elements. Commanding their primal instincts in battle leads these magic mavens to victory. Shamans regain mana when they strike an enemy in combat (with a more effective chance on criticals) and when they are struck by an enemy in combat.
As a Shammy, you get to master the following abilities:

Ancestor’s Flame
10 Mana, 4 second cooldown
Deals moderate damage to up to three targets, and applies Scorched Spirit. Damage increased by Elemental Embrace.

Hydrophobia
15 mana, 4 second cooldown
Deals moderate damage to up to three targets. Any damage caused to targets affected by Scorched Spirit will heal the shaman for a portion of the damage dealt. Healing increased by Elemental Embrace.

Dry Lightning
40 Mana, 16 second cooldown
Deals heavy damage to the target. Damage increased by Elemental Embrace.

Ancestral Teachings
Passive Ability
Intellect increased 15%

Primal Fury
Passive Ability
Crit chance increased by 8%

Elemental Embrace
60 mana, 16 second coodown
Deals light damage to target and applies Elemental Embrace, negating all target Evasion and Critical Strike chance. This effect also makes the Shaman’s spells more powerful, and gets stronger the more spells the Shaman casts against the target.

Shamans heavily rely on their Intellect, Dexterity, and Endurance… and it never hurts to have some Luck throw into the mix. Enhancing your gear with Wizard enhancements would fare nicely for the intrepid Shaman…
…but I’ve got something better.
Spellbreaker Enhancements!
Yup, along with offering you the Shaman Class, Rayst will have another new shop selling a new set of Enhancement Patterns: Spellbreaker! Ideal for Shamans, Spellbreaker Enhs increase Intellect, Dexterity, Endurance, and Luck. This helps out tremendously when increasing your Magic Power and Critical Strike chance, which are what Shammys rely the most on.
Spellbreaker Enhancements work well for many Caster-type Classes. But it’s always fun to play around with different combinations of Enhs when building your character. And I know you are going to have a blast with this new Class!
You just have to wait until tonight ^____^

Arcangrove Expanded: Mount Mafic

You have almost completed the Supreme Arcane Staff! Only one more piece to go… and the final part resides deep within the volcanic region of Mount Mafic.

As one of the most dangerous and powerful places on Lore, Mount Mafic is the plane between magic and natural phenomenon. Magma Golems, Scoria Serpents, Living Fires and Volcanic Maggots have thrived on the volcano since the dawn of time, protecting the FINAL piece of the Supreme Arcane Staff: the Chaos Focus Gem!
You and your buddies will have to solve the volcano’s tricky lava-bridge puzzle if you hope to obtain such a relic (and quite possibly have to fight the Boss when you get to the other side). The puzzle consists of 6 different Magic Orbs that require a distinct pattern in order to lower the bridges.

If you need help figuring it out (like I did… many times over…) the 4^th tunnel when you’re inside Mount Mafic has a floating green orb that you can click and it’ll give you much needed hints on how to solve this insane puzzle! A pencil and paper might be helpful as well ^____^
The monsters here are also loaded with an eruption of BRAND NEW items. And, clearly, since I haven’t given you enough to read already, it would be my honor to list them all for you!

Shaman Class and Spellbreaker Enhancements

Finally! A new NON-MEMBER Class! I did a great big DN post earlier this morning (actually it was really really late in the evening for me) that will enlighten you on the Shaman’s abilities and whatnot. But I didn’t have a picture of the Class since, well, we didn’t finish the art ‘til just now!

Color Customizable! Need I say more? …uh yeah

Shammys require a Rank 10 Reputation with Arcangrove. Don’t have enough Rep? Mount Mafic offers 4 new quests that will help you reach Rank 10 Rep if you haven’t already maxed it out. You can get this new Class by speaking to Rayst, who is also offering Spellbreaker Enhancements.
This entire set of new enhancements increases your Intellect, Dexterity, Endurance, and Luck when applied to your Class, Cape, Helm, and Weapon. Since Shamans rely heavily on these four Stats, there’s a pretty good chance that you will want to invest in Spellbreaker Enhs.
But you don’t have to. Customizing your character with an array of different Enhancements is part of the fun! Play around with different Stat builds and see which one best works for you! (and then let me know about it so that I can copy you)

AQWorlds’ Second Birthday Bash—Next Week!

On the crazy date of 10/10/10, AQWorlds is turning 2 years old! Last year, the world was flipped on its head as millions of players became Undead and seized Liongfang's castle to save the AE Team… but that is all in the past. THIS YEAR, things will become even CrAzIeR as we do a weekend long special event with musical guests Paul & Storm and a special cameo appearance by Jonathan Coulton! Lore is going to flip inside-out as.... *mmfuufmfmmm* SORRY FOLKS! That part is a secret… for now… until Artix slips-up and unleashes the mightiest spoiler of all time….

Tacos Rule!

On Monday, October 4^th, we are celebrating National Taco Day! Artix was sooo excited about this, um, “holiday”, that Dage the Evil took it upon himself to make some totally taco-licious gear. So this Monday, there will be a giant Taco in Battleon selling the Tacobender Helm, Destructo-Tacos, Taco Admiral Helm (Male and Female versions), and the Tacomancer Armor, available for everyone who completes the giant Taco’s outrageous quest.

Yeah. We’re a little weird, just in case you haven’t figured that one out yet.

The 2nd Annual Creative Pumpkin Carving Contest

Do you have what it takes to carve the best AE-themed pumpkin in all of Lore? How skilled are you in the fine arts of the pumpkin-carving blade? Are you able to duel-wield a camera at the same time?
If so, this contest is perfect for you!
This is the official all-call for pumpkin-carving masters! Mogloween is right around the corner so there is no better time for such a contest!

Last year, there were sooo many AMAZING carved pumpkins that we just HAD to do another contest. Check out last year’s winners!
There will be ONE Grand Prize winner (probably… maybe more…?). The contest starts now and ends on Sunday, October 31st. The winners will be announced on the Design Notes and the Forums on the following Friday, November 5th!
The Grand Prize winner(s) will receive 5,000 AdventureCoins!

Now that I have your attention, you’re probably wondering how to enter. The rules and guidelines are simple but MUST be followed accordingly for your entry to be considered eligible:
• Your pumpkin MUST be carved BY YOU!

• Your pumpkin MUST be your own ORIGINAL WORK! Any work that is copied via Internet and/or Stencils or simply Copy-Pasted of some supreme pumpkin-carving legend will lead to an automatic DISQUALIFICATION. We’re serious—it’s in CAPS!

• Your pumpkin MUST be carved in an AE theme. Check out last year's winners for inspiration!

• Include an index card or a piece of paper with ONLY your AQW Character Name--this way we really know it's made by you, and so we can award you with AC prizes if you win! Make sure your AQW name is readable and legible!

• Your pumpkin carving can relate to anything from AdventureQuest Worlds or any other Artix Entertainment game =D

• Your canvas must be a pumpkin or another form of squash and/or gourd.

• The photo of your carved pumpkin must be of the Highest Quality—the bigger and more clear the picture, the better! Make sure that you provide a VALID URL to your photo. Try using a reliable photo uploader like Photobucket, TinyPic or Twitpic.

Tercessuinotlim Fixed

the path has been reopened!

Over the weekend, Miltonius made some secret changes to his super-secret area that you may or may not know about. The team didn’t even know about it—that’s how secret it was!
Long story short, fixes to the Tercessuinotlim* map have been made and the path has been reopened. So thanks to you and your friends (and a LOT of thanks to Reens and our great Forums staff), we were able to make the proper fixes so you can continue playing through Miltonius’ secret zone. That is, if you can find it…
*Tercess-what? How do you even pronounce that? Ter…cess…you…in…ot…lim?

New Fun in Store!

Well, technically, it’s in a Shop.

There is a new type of shop coming to AQWorlds this Friday that you are going to love! For lack of a better fancy-pants name, we are calling it a Merge Shop.

That jpeg hardly does it justice. Merge Shops will allow you to get certain items by trading in other items instead of just flat-out buying it with Gold. A great example is the PvP Trophy system in Battleon where you trade in Trophies (currently set as Quest turn-ins) to get the wicked PvP gear Dumoose offers.
But there’s a problem with this current system. You can SEE the item name that you want, but you can’t SEE the item itself until you turn your hard-earned PvP Trophies in. And what happens if you slaved in PvP combat, traded your trophies in, but didn’t like the item reward?
Merge Shops fix that!

Tadaa! You get a lovely preview of the item along with the item turn-ins required. Merge Shops will put an end to the crazy get-quest-then-get-items-required-for-that-quest-and-then-turn-in-quest-after-getting-those-items-and-then-get-item-reward-that-you-cannot-see-until-after-you-turn-in-the-quest madness.

We will start putting these new Merge Shops all over Lore in the near future. The first Merge Shop you will encounter will be in this week’s upcoming new Mogloween release!

Mogloween 2010

Jack-o-Dooms and crazed monocle-wearing dentists have nothing on the newest Mogloween installment. This Friday at sundown, you and your buddies are going to discover where the Cauldron Sisters get their candy supplies from… where else than the Candy Cornfields!
But the Sisters’ candy corn suppliers haven’t filled this year’s order yet. History tells us that something must be wrong, and you must travel to the candy cornfields to uncover what is holding up the operation. Brand new monsters, a whole new zone, killer cutscenes, and Mogloween Seasonal Rares await!
The Mogloween Seasonal Shop from previous years will be returning… but in a different way. Remember that Merge Shop thing I told you about? Yup, this will be your first encounter with this new feature! The monsters in the candy cornfields will be loaded with all sorts of candy that you can collect and turn-in for spook-tastical armors, weapons, helms and more, some being past Mogloween favorites and others being brand new! W00t!
…wait, why can’t I trade in my candy IRL for new clothes? Does HeroMart accept payments by bubblegum? I’ll have to look into this.
And for those who have been wondering about the Pumpkinlord Class… YES, it WILL come back as a drop off this year’s big bad boss ^____^ (I’m not sure if I was supposed to tell you that…)

More Pumpkins!

If you have logged into Battleon recently (which I hope you have!), you probably noticed a giant glowing pumpkin chillin’ over by Twilly. If you click that gourd, it will give you some links to give your friends the free and rare Great Mogloween Pumpkin helm!

Much like the Marshmallow on a Stick for the Friday the 13^th Event, this lovely pumpkin helm can be Upgraded! But not yet. You are ganna have to wait until this week’s release in order to upgrade this helm into a Fiery Mogloween Pumpkin or a . Wahahha >:D It’s super secret, so you’ll have to find out for yourself (if you can find it… and if Dage doesn’t leak the secret ahead of time lol!)
Speaking of pumpkins, the Pumpkin Carving Contest is still underway! If you have no shame in chopping up a defenseless pumpkin, gourd, or squash, then this contest is PERFECT for you!

You wouldn’t believe some of the entries I have seen with people COPYING last year’s winners and pretending it to be their own. This makes me so sad =( I don’t like to use frowny-face emotes, but whenever I see someone copying someone else’s hard work, and claiming it to be their own, I can’t help but equal-sign open-parentheses.
So let’s keep this fun, guys and gals! That’s what a contest is all about, right? Right! Also, Cysero promised a super-cool item for the Grand Prize Winner—on top of 5,000 ACs—so what do you have to lose? (Please don’t say a finger, because I KNOW how sharp those carving tools can be!)
